'Would not be cheap' - Blues insider reveals Chelsea's stance on Osimhen
Published: March 12, 2023
Blues insider Simon Phillips reckons that it would take an astronomical fee for Napoli to consider selling their record acquisition Victor Osimhen in the summer transfer window.
The Nigeria international has been the talk of the town ahead of the reopening of the transfer window, on the back of the exceptional season he's having at Napoli, who are on the brink of winning the Serie A title.
The 24-year-old has mustered 21 goals in all competitions this term, a career-best for the Napoli number 9.
Osimhen's form has alerted a number of marquee Premier League clubs, most notably Chelsea and Manchester United.
It has been widely reported that the minimum amount that Napoli would be prepared to sell the Super Eagles striker is 120 million euros, a fee that is not beyond the reach of Chelsea, considering that they paid a similar fee to Benfica to sign Argentina's World Cup-winning midfielder Enzo Fernández.
Osimhen appears to have given the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United the green light to make a move for his services after revealing in a recent interview that he always dreamt of playing in the Premier League.
" Osimhen is liked by Chelsea and many at the club would see him as the dream striker signing," Phillips said to Get Football.
"But, he would not be cheap and Chelsea are weighing up other options as well. Osimhen will have a lot of interest coming in for him."
Osimhen will have two years left on his Napoli contract at the end of the 2022-2023 season.
