Osimhen's potential replacement : Napoli face competition from Everton to sign Udinese star
Published: March 09, 2023
Napoli have started preparing for life without their leading marksman Victor Osimhen who is strongly linked with a transfer to the English Premier League as well as Paris Saint-Germain in the summer transfer window.
According to Mundo Udinese, via Sport Witness, the Serie A table toppers are looking for a potential replacement for the Nigeria international and could make a move for Udinese striker Beto in the summer.
The major stumbling block to a deal is that The Parthenopeans have to fend off competition from Premier League side Everton to sign the Udinese number 9, who was named in Portugal's preliminary squad for the 2022 World Cup.
Everton were interested in signing Beto in the January transfer window but their offer was rejected by Udinese.
This season, Beto has netted eight goals in the Italian top-flight, with his strike partner Isaac Success setting up three of those goals.
Osimhen is the top scorer of the Serie A with 19 goals in 21 games and his form over the last five months has seen him being linked with several top clubs in Europe not limited to Chelsea, Manchester United and PSG.
Napoli are aware that the 2015 FIFA U17 World Cup Golden Boot winner is one of the most-sought after strikers in the world at the moment and have slapped a price tag of more than 100 million euros on the Super Eagles star.
