2023 Flying Eagles invitee, Nwaneri battle Saka, 3 others for Arsenal Goal of the Month
Published: March 07, 2023
Two Nigeria-eligible players are in the running for Arsenal's Goal of the Month award for February 2023.
2023 Flying Eagles invitee Joel Ideho and England youth international Ethan Nwaneri have both been nominated for the monthly accolade.
Ideho was shortlisted for his goal against West Ham United's development squad in a Premier League 2 game on February 17, and Nwaneri for his strike against Cambridge United in the quarterfinals of the FA Youth Cup on February 23.
Against the Hammers, Ideho gave Arsenal the lead in the 63rd minute when he blasted the ball home from just outside the box.
In a thrilling FA Youth Cup clash at the Emirates Stadium, Nwaneri broke the deadlock inside ten minutes with a stunning strike from the edge of the box.
It was a goal of the highest quality and the attacking midfielder, who is still a schoolboy, reminded everyone about his potential.
The other four nominees for the Arsenal Goal of the Month are Bukayo Saka, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Michal Rosiak and Stina Blackstenius.
Ideho and Nwaneri were in the Arsenal squad narrowly beaten 1-0 by Liverpool in the Premier League 2 on Monday night.
