Tottenham-owned Italian-Nigerian fullback and Dessers named in Serie A TOTW
Published: March 07, 2023
Tottenham Hotspur-owned fullback of Nigerian descent Destiny Udogie and Super Eagles striker Cyriel Deseers have both earned Team of the Week inclusions for their outstanding performances in the last round of matches in the Serie A.
Football statistics website Whoscored.com has picked its weekly Team of the Week, with the Udinese defender and Cremonese striker making the cut.
Udogie helped Udinese goalkeeper Marco Silvestri keep a clean sheet in a goalless draw with Atalanta, which is no mean feat given the form of Rasmus Højlund and Ademola Lookman who have 21 goals between them this season.
Dessers made an impact after coming off the bench for Cremonese in their painful 3-2 defeat suffered at the hands of Sassuolo on Monday.
The former Racing Genk striker thought he had salvaged a point for the Grigiorossi after netting a brace, only for home team to snatch all three points right at the death.
In a 4-4-2 formation, Udogie slots in at left-back, with Dessers partnered in attack by Torino's Paraguay international Antonio Sanabria..
Dessers was the second highest-rated player in the Team of the Week, scoring 8.3, while Udogie earned 8 out of ten marks.
