West Ham pushing to sign Super Eagles star but face competition from PL trio, German, Spanish clubs
Published: March 07, 2023
West Ham United still maintain an interest in Super Eagles star Ola Aina after missing out on his signature in the summer transfer window, allnigeriasoccer.com has been told.
Aina's proposed return to the Premier League fell through on deadline day last summer as the Hammers saw a bid rejected by Torino.
West Ham made a bid in the region of seven million euros to sign the Chelsea Academy product but the amount was deemed insufficient by Torino.
Now, the Hammers could be saving transfer funds by signing the versatile defender for nothing with his contract with Torino running out at the end of the 2022-2023 campaign.
Contract talks with Torino have stalled, which could pave the way for Aina to leave the Serie A club as a free agent.
Apart from West Ham, Bournemouth, Everton and Fulham are also monitoring the situation of the 26-year-old.
In the race for the signature of the Nigerian, the Premier League quartet have competition from abroad in the form of La Liga side Villarreal, German Bundesliga team Werder Bremen and four-time French champions Lille.
Aina has played nonstop at Torino since the summer of 2018, first joining them on loan from Chelsea, before the transfer was made permanent the following season.
