'It's not serious at all' - Huddersfield boss not losing sleep over Nigerian midfielder's injury
Published: December 18, 2022Huddersfield Town manager Mark Fotheringham is not losing sleep over the latest injury suffered by former Nigeria youth team invitee David Kasumu.
The defensive midfielder was omitted from the matchday squad for the Sky Bet Championship game against Watford at the John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday due to a slight Achilles issue.
Another midfielder of Nigerian descent in Chelsea loanee Faustino Anjorin also missed the game through an ankle injury.
While Anjorin's injury is long term, Fotheringham expects Kasumu to be back on the grass soon.
Kasumu is one of the first names on the Huddersfield Town teamsheet, having started twelve of the fourteen matches played by the Terriers before the visit of Watford.
In quotes relayed by Football League World, Fotheringham told reporters at the post-match press conference : "David has had a thickening of the Achilles.
"He wasn’t quite right in the game against Sheffield United, so we decided to take him off the grass this week to give him a break from the load.
"It’s not serious at all and he will be back in the near future."
Kasumu, who is considered one of the best holding midfielders of Nigerian descent in the Football League, won Huddersfield Town's Player of the Month for October 2022,
