Stade de Reims' new star confident Super Falcons will survive 2023 World Cup group

Super Falcons defender Tosin Demehin has categorically stated that the team will overcome Group B opponents Australia, Republic of Ireland and Canada in the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup. 

Demehin who was promoted to the Nigeria women's senior national team after her impressive 2022 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica spoke to Brila FM about her thoughts on the draws held on Saturday morning.

"The group is not the hardest from the draws on Saturday," Demehin quipped. 

"I believe we will qualify from the group. It's a relatively easy group for us," the former Rivers Angels defender who recently signed for French side Stade Reims further said tersely.

Nigeria have qualified for every single the FIFA World Cup since the inaugural edition in 1991 when China hosted the tournament.

The nine-time African champions finished in fourth place at the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations in Morocco to avoid the need for the intercontinental playoffs in February 2023.

African women's champions, South Africa, Morocco, Zambia and Nigeria are Africa's representatives at the World Cup to be co-hosted by New Zealand and Australia. 

The Falcons played a series of international friendly matches in the 2022 calendar year which included two games against one of the group opponents, Canada.
