We begin with the EFL Championship. Arsenal academy product and Super Eagles hopeful Chuba Akpom has now scored four goals in eight appearances in the division after his goal in Middlesbrough's 4-1 hammering of Wigan Athletic at the DW Stadium.
In the 69th minute, Akpom increased the advantage by converting a penalty after Jones was felled in the area.
In the DFB Pokal, former Germany U21 international Emmanuel Iyoha helped Fortuna Düsseldorf register a 3-0 road win against SSV Jahn Regensburg, a victory that saw them move into the round of sixteen.
The striker netted Fortuna Düsseldorf's third goal in the first minute of first half stoppage time after he was set up by Dawid Kownacki.
Super Eagles striker Peter Olayinka netted against his former employers Dukla Prague as Slavia Prague recorded their first win in this season's MOL Cup to move into the round of sixteen.
Olayinka sent the ball behind the crossbar after Čtvrtečka’s initial save to make it 3-0 in the 90th minute before Sttanislav Tecl scored Slavia's fourth goal in stoppage time.
