Celtic boss provides positive fitness update on German-Nigerian CB ahead of Leipzig clash
Published: October 10, 2022Glasgow Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has provided a positive fitness update on German-Nigerian central defender Moritz Jenz ahead of his side's UEFA Champions League clash against RB Leipzig at Celtic Park on Tuesday night.
Jenz traveled with the Celtic squad to Perth for their Premiership match against St Johnstone on Saturday but was omitted from the matchday squad due to illness.
The Berlin native is in the frame to be included in the matchday squad for the home clash after Postecoglou offered an encouraging update on the defender's fitness during the pre-match press conference.
"At the weekend (David) Turnbull and (Moritz) Jenz missed out through illness but they look like they will be okay," Postecoglou told reporters.
Jenz has played every single minute of Celtic's Champions League campaign so far and is in contention to partner USA international Cameron Carter-Vickers in central defence.
Celtic sit bottom of the Champions League Group F table with one point from three matches and must avoid a second consecutive loss to Leipzig to stand a chance of qualifying for the last sixteen.
Leipzig lost both of their previous matches in Glasgow, against Celtic and Rangers.
