History-making Norwegian-Nigerian striker admits he's inspired by Erling Haaland
Published: September 23, 2022Norway youth international of Nigerian descent Antonio Nusa has admitted to being inspired by Manchester City goal machine Erling Haaland.
The Club Brugge starlet became the youngest ever Nigeria-eligible player to feature in the UEFA Champions League in the 21st century when he debuted for the Belgian Pro League champions in their 4-0 rout of Zaidu Sanusi's FC Porto on September 13.
Fourteen minutes after coming off the bench, he set a new record as the youngest player to score on his Champions League debut aged 17 years and 149 days.
Two days after his remarkable feat, he was rewarded with a contract extension at Club Brugge until June 30, 2025.
Haaland broke through the ranks at Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg, scoring 29 goals in 27 appearances, which earned him a move to Borussia Dortmund, from where he joined Manchester City.
The Norwegian has not stopped scoring goals since he arrived in England with 14 in ten games.
"It's easy to look up to Haaland. He immediately inspires. When you see him in action, you know that anything is possible," Nusa was quoted as saying by TV 2.
Nusa, the youngest player of Nigerian descent to debut in the Norwegian Eliteserien, joined Club Brugge from Stabæk Fotball last summer for a fee of three million euros.
