Through their official website, CF Montreal have announced the acquisition of Nigerian attacker Chinonso Offor from fellow Eastern Conference Major League Soccer side Chicago Fire.
Chicago Fire have traded Offor in exchange for $325,000 in 2023 General Allocation Money (GAM).
The Soldier Field outfit will receive an additional $275,000 in GAM if Offor achieves certain performance-based metrics with Montreal, and they will also receive a percentage of a future transfer fee if he is transferred to a non-Major League Soccer club.
Offor joined Chicago Fire in November 2020 from Latvian club FK Rigas Futbola Skola.
Chicago Fire FC Sporting Director Georg Heit explained that the transfer was made to create more roster flexibility and to provide Offor with an opportunity to compete for playing time in a new environment
The 2000-born striker departs Chicago Fire after making forty-two appearances in all competitions, in which he registered two goals and two assists.
He started his professional career at BFC Daugavpils and played for Real Sapphire in his homeland before moving abroad.
CF Montreal take on Inter Miami on Saturday, August 6 at Stade Saputo (Montreal, Quebec).
