2021 AFCON: Victor Osimhen makes himself available for selection
Published: December 21, 2021
Nigeria have been handed a huge boost ahead of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, with their top scorer in the qualifiers Victor Osimhen making himself available for selection.
Today made it one month Osimhen has not played a competitive match for Napoli after suffering an injury following a clash with Slovakia center back Milan Skriniar during the Serie A match against Inter Milan.
The Nigeria international is now wearing a mask protecting his reconstructed face, enabling him to begin contact training with his teammates at Napoli in the coming days.
There were fears that Osimhen would be out of action until February 21 after his surgery but his estimated downtime is expected to be shortened by at least six weeks if the statement by the center forward is anything to go by.
Osimhen posted on social media : "I will be available for AFCON 100 percent unless if I am not among the players picked to represent Nigeria".
Osimhen was at Napoli training on Tuesday and followed a custom training regime.
