Super Eagles number 10 responds to question on his best position for Glasgow Rangers
Published: December 05, 2021
Joe Aribo faced the media shortly after inspiring Glasgow Rangers to a 3-0 rout of Dundee in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday, a victory that sees the Light Blues move seven points clear of second placed Celtic.
Aribo gave his side the lead when his shot found the back of the
net thanks to a deflection from Liam Fontaine nine minutes before
halftime, and he forced an own goal in the 55th minute as Ryan
Sweeney knocked a cross from the Nigerian past his own goalkeeper.
Aribo's natural position is playing as a central midfielder but his
offensive and defensive qualities have seen him deployed at left-back,
right wing, right midfield, defensive midfield and attacking
midfield since joining Rangers in the summer of 2019.
When on national team duties, Aribo is always utilized as a one of the two holding midfielders by manager Gernot Rohr.
The Super Eagles number 10 has been playing a bit further forward in the last couple of games under Giovanni van Bronckhorst, and the first question he was asked in the presser was to clarify his best position for Rangers.
Speaking to Rangers TV, Aribo said : "I've never really thought about what is my best position, I've just been happy to do what the manager wants me to do so that's also what I'm doing in this role, but I'm really enjoying getting forward and trying to chip in with more goals".
In the four games Giovanni van Bronckhorst was in the dugout, Aribo has scored two goals and forced an own goal.
