Arsenal's Nigeria-eligible GK back in training pre-Liverpool, Balogun also involved final session
Published: November 19, 2021
Arsenal have rounded off their preparations ahead of the standout Premier League fixture of the weekend against Liverpool as they trained at London Colney on Friday.
Nigeria-eligible goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo trained with the rest of the first teamers, so did England U21 international of Nigerian descent Folarin Balogun.
Okonkwo has been inactive for the Gunners teams since November 2 when he went the distance against Plymouth Argyle in the EFL Trophy.
The Hale End Academy graduate was not at the disposal of manager Mikel Arteta for the last game before the international break against Watford, and to make up the numbers another goalkeeper of Nigerian descent, Ovie Ejeheri was brought in to provide cover for Aaron Ramsdale and Bernd Leno.
Okonkwo has been sharing goalkeeping duties with Estonia national teamer Karl Hein for Arsenal's development squad in the current season.
Meanwhile, any doubts surrounding the fitness of Balogun have been dispelled as he trained fully with the first team in their final workout before the trip to Merseyside.
The striker was hooked off against Georgia while on Young Lions duty earlier this week due to discomfort.
