Former Manchester United striker Odion Ighalo has reversed his decision to retire from international football.
The in-form Al-Shabab star was included on a 24-man roster for the upcoming 2022 World Cup qualifiers against Liberia and Cape Verde but there had been doubts about whether he would honour the call-up, more than two years after he called time on his international career.
Ighalo has finally bowed to the pressure mounted by Nigeria Football Federation supremo Amaju Pinnick and manager Gernot Rohr and reported for international duty in Morocco on Thursday afternoon.
The 2019 Africa Cup of Nations top scorer with five goals is expected to have two training sessions with the Super Eagles before Saturday's tie against Liberia.
He is battling Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, Leicester City star Kelechi Iheanacho and Racing Genk goal machine Paul Onuachu for a starting spot against the Lone Stars.
Ighalo has been in blistering form in the 2021-2022 campaign, scoring nine goals in eleven appearances in the Saudi Arabian Professional League.
His last appearance for the Super Eagles was in a third-place game against Tunisia at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, specifically July 17, 2019.
