UWCL: Obaze goes the distance as HB Koge suffer huge loss to her father's ex-club Arsenal
Published: November 10, 2021
Arsenal secured their second win in the group stage of the UEFA Women's Champions League in emphatic fashion, thrashing HB Køge 5-1 at Capelli Sport Stadion (Køge) on Wednesday evening.
Denmark U19 international of Nigerian descent Isabella Bryld Obaze went the distance for the Danish Elitedivisionen champions.
It was an emotional game for Obaze as her Nigerian father represented Arsenal at youth level during his playing days.
In the end it was a comfortable victory for the Gunners but Obaze and her teammates gave a good account of themselves in the opening forty five minutes, conceding just once when Catley's well taken left-footed free-kick beat the goalkeeper from outside the area.
Nikita Parris made it 2-0 just after the hour mark and Caitlin Foord with a header increased the lead before Maddie Pokorny gave Arsenal a scare when she pulled a goal back at minute 71.
Anna Patten and Jordan Nobbs netted in the closing minutes to make sure it was a 5-1 victory for the visitors.
Obaze began her career at Kolding Boldklub, which later became Kolding Q, where she spent ten years before joining HB Koge in January 2021.
