Starting XI vs CAR: Rangers duo, Brentford, Watford players start as Rohr sticks with training line-up
Published: October 07, 2021
Gernot Rohr has announced his starting line-up for Thursday's 2022 World Cup qualifying match against Central African Republic at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, starting from 1700 hours.
Rohr has sprung no surprises in his team selection with the Franco-German football tactician opting to name the same players that started for the 'Team A' during the Super Eagles' first workout on grass two days ago, as exclusively reported by allnigeriasoccer.com.
It means Francis Uzoho is preferred over Daniel Akpeyi and Maduka Okoye to be in between the pipes, with the latter dropping to the bench after reporting late to camp.
Watford star William Troost-Ekong and Glasgow Rangers' Leon Balogun are the central defenders, while Jamilu Collins and Chelsea academy product Ola Aina occupy the left-back and right-back positions respectively.
In midfield, there are starts for Rangers ace Joe Aribo, Brenftord's Frank Onyeka who makes his competitive Nigeria debut, and Leicester City's Kelechi Iheanacho.
Red-hot Napoli striker Victor Osimhen leads the attack and he is flanked by Moses Simon and Chidera Ejuke.
Nigeria starting XI vs CAR : Uzoho; Ola Aina, Troost-Ekong, Leon Balogun, Collins; Onyeka, Joe Aribo, Iheanacho; Ejuke, Simon, Osimhen
