Super Eagles star Simon opens account for the season but Nantes are roundly beaten by Reims

Moses Simon opened his account for the 2021-2022 season but his goal was in vain as Nantes were roundly beaten 3-1 by Reims in a French Ligue 1 match staged at Stade Auguste-Delaune II on Sunday afternoon.
The Super Eagles winger has been in great form in terms of assists this season but had not managed to find the back of the net prior to the trip to Reims.
He has five assists to his name including two from free-kicks, more than any other player in the division, after providing an assist on the opening day versus Monaco and two each against Metz and SCO Angers.
After a drab opening forty-five minutes, Reims ran riot in the second half by scoring three goals.
Thomas Foket broke the deadlock at minute 51 but the home team's lead lasted less than eleven minutes as Simon netted what proved to be a consolation for the visitors.
Simon jinked into the box from the left, dribbling past two Reim players, before slotting home at the near post.
Reims secured all the three points courtesy of a brace from 19-year-old winger Hugo Ekitike.
