Teenage Nigeria-eligible striker inks new deal with Millwall after Watford, Southampton trials
Published: September 23, 2021Championship outfit Millwall are set to officially confirm that Nigeria-eligible center forward Abdul Abdulmalik has ended speculation over his future by putting pen to paper on a new deal.
London News Online has reported that Abdulmalik has signed a new one-year contract, with the option for a further twelve months.
The 18-year-old had been destined to leave the Lions having initially stalled on agreeing new terms with the club.
But the striker has performed a U-turn after trials with Premier League duo Watford and Southampton, and League One outfit Portsmouth.
Millwall bass Gary Rowett told London News Online : "It has been very well-documented that we wanted Abdul to stay in the first place.
"He’s a young player with a lot of ability and potential. For various reasons he had been advised to head out and try his hand somewhere else.
"He’s realised we are a really good next step for him. It’s important he now develops and puts everything into taking that next step."
