20-year-old Nigerian midfielder involved in Arsenal final training session pre-AFC Wimbledon
Published: September 21, 2021Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Tim Akinola has seemingly been included in Arsenal's provisional squad for Wednesday evening's Carabao Cup clash against AFC Wimbledon at the Emirates Stadium in London.
The Nigerian-born midfielder was involved in the Gunners final training session held at London Colney in St Albans on Tuesday, September 21.
If selected by manager Mikel Arteta to face the League One side, it would be Akinola's first ever squad involvement in terms of the first team since joining the north London club from Huddersfield Town in July 2020.
The 20-year-old impressed the Spanish football tactician during a friendly against Brentford on September 2 and has trained with the first team several times this month ahead of a potential senior debut for the Emirates outfit.
Akinola is a familiar name to those that follow the Gunners youth teams, and was one the most used players for the U23s in the Premier League 2 in his debut season at the club.
As someone who is very combative on the pitch, the Anglo-Nigerian would hold his own against Football League opposition if fielded.
Another 20-year-old Anglo-Nigerian youngster in striker Folarin Balogun also participated in today's training session.
The England U21 international has been in red hot form in the Premier League 2, scoring four goals in his last two matches against Manchester United and Chelsea.
