'I'm not taking any chances' - Sheffield Wednesday boss explains why he subbed off Shodipo
Sheffield Wednesday have been knocked out of the Carabao Cup after Huddersfield Town beat them 4-2 on penalties in a first round clash held at Hillsborough on Sunday afternoon.

The clash saw two players of Nigerian descent Olamide Shodipo and Dennis Adeniran make their competitive debuts for the Owls but the former could not complete the game, subbing out in the 34th minute.

Shodipo, who joined Sheffield Wednesday on a season-long loan from Queens Park Rangers last month, ceded his spot on the pitch to Jaden Brown.

Sheffield Wednesday boss Darren Moore explained post-match that the former Republic of Ireland youth international was substituted as a precaution after he felt discomfort on his leg.

"With Mide today, it looks like a tightening of the muscle and he wanted to carry on but for me if it’s 50/50 then I am not taking any chances.," he told Sheffield Wednesday's official webpage.

"Mide felt a little bit of muscle tightening so I took the decision to bring him off."

Former Nigeria U23 invitee Dominic Iorfa and ex-Flying Eagles invitee Fisayo Dele-Bashiru tasted action for Sheffield Wednesday, while former Everton winger Korede Adedoyin was a non-playing substitute.
