UCLQ: Onyedika named in Midtjylland's matchday squad to face Glasgow Celtic
Published: July 28, 2021
Barring an injury in the pre-match warm up, Nigerian midfielder Raphael Onyedika will be involved in some capacity when Danish Superliga side FC Midtjylland tackle Glasgow Celtic in a UEFA Champions League second qualifying round second leg tie at the MCH Arena on Wednesday evening.
Manager Bo Henriksen has selected twenty three players for today's Champions League clash against the Hoops, with Onyedika part of the group.
Under UEFA rules, teams can name 23 players in the matchday squad and permitted to make five substitutions during the game.
The 20-year-old Onyedika has featured in all the competitive matches played by the Wolves in the new season including debuts in the Superliga and Champions League qualifiers.
In the first leg at Celtic Park last Tuesday, he had to be substituted in the 82nd minute as he was walking a disciplinary tightrope after he was cautioned in the 81st minute.
Midtjylland are targeting a place in the next qualifying round after the first leg in Glasgow finished 1-1.
The away goal rule has been abolished in all UEFA club competitions, so if the two teams are tied at the end of 90 minutes at the MCH Arena, extra time is played and a possible penalty shootout.
