FA Youth Cup: Six Nigerian players train with Arsenal ahead of mouth-watering clash v Man Utd
Published: February 27, 2025
Six Nigeria-eligible teenagers trained with Arsenal U18s team before Friday's mouth-watering FA Youth Cup clash against Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium.
According to Arsenal youth team insider Jeorge Bird, Andre Harriman-Annous, Josh Ogunnaike, Ife Ibrahim, Daniel Oyetunde and Samuel Onyekachukwu were spotted in the latest training images from Arsenal's official website.
The sixth player that trained with the U18s is central midfielder Zac Shuaib, who has not figured for the youth teams since coming off the bench in the closing minutes of a 3-3 draw against Southampton in September 2024.
Manchester United U18s coach Adam Lawrence and his Arsenal counterpart Adam Birchall both have interesting decisions to make, whether to include Chido Obi and Ethan Nwaneri in the matchday squad.
Over the past few weeks, Obi and Nwaneri have been involved with the first teams of their respective clubs, with Obi making his professional debut in a Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur on February 16.
With thirty-seven call-ups in all competitions this season, Nwaneri has been integrated into Arsenal's first team in the 2024-2025 campaign.
All players born on or after September 1, 2006 are eligible for selection in the FA Youth Cup, meaning players are 18 or under.
Harriman-Annous who has scored in three consecutive games in the FA Youth Cup is expected to be named in Arsenal's starting lineup against Manchester United.
