James Maddison return: Leicester legend admits Rodgers to make key decision on Iheanacho
Published: April 11, 2021Leicester City legend and club ambassador Gerry Taggart has admitted that manager Brendan Rodgers faces a selection headache before his side's meeting with West Ham at the London Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The Northern Irishman has one key decision to make, whether to retain Kelechi Iheanacho in the starting lineup to partner Jamie Vardy in attack despite the fact James Maddison has recovered from a hip injury.
The Nigeria international has been one of the most in-form players in the top five European Leagues since March, scoring five goals in four league matches, and is the current Premier League Player of the Month.
"Obviously he's got a bit more flexibility with his team selection, with Ricardo, Castagne and James Maddison coming back," Taggart said on Matchday Minus Two.
"But you also got to bring the form of Kelechi Iheanacho during that period of time, playing upfront alongside Jamie Vardy.
"To take one of those players out, are you breaking up a really good partnership that has performed well.
"Kelechi Iheanacho has found really good form, scored bags of goals, it's now seven in five - that's great form.
"So do you break that partnership up, so it's a bit of headache for Brendan as far as team selection is concerned."

Leicester City have shown faith in Iheanacho, offering him a fresh three-year deal until the end of the 2023-2024 season - a reward for his excellent display over the last six weeks.
