Balogun's brace not enough as Arsenal lose to Brentford B in friendly
Published: April 04, 2021Folarin Balogun was on target twice for Arsenal twice but it was not enough as they were beaten 3-2 by Brentford B in a friendly staged at Bisham Abbey on Easter Sunday.
The American-born England youth international was one of four Nigeria-eligible youngsters named in the starting lineup, the others being Tim Akinola, Ryan Alebiosu and Miguel Azeez.
Aaron Pressley from the spot and Brook scored to give the young Bees a two-goal advantage but the Gunners U23s pulled a goal back through Balogun in the first minute of first half stoppage time.
In the 63rd minute, Balogun headed in at the far post to bring Arsenal back on level terms.
Pressley fired home to make it 3-2 with a minute remaining and the north London team could not score a third goal that would have given them an equaliser.
Arsenal U23s are back in action when they face Derby County in the Premier League 2 a week on Monday.
Despite speculation surrounding his future, Balogun has been in fine form this season, with 11 goals and 3 assists for the Arsenal teams in all competitions.
