'I want to get a few more goals' - Man City's Sodje wants to finish season as top scorer
Published: March 23, 2021Prolific Manchester City striker Tai Sodje wants to finish the 2020-2021 season as the top scoring player in the U18 Premier League, and he's well on course to achieving the goal he set himself.
The 17-year-old is in the best scoring streak of his young career, having netted in five straight games against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Newcastle United, Stoke City, Derby County and Leeds United.
A penalty kick he converted last Saturday versus Leeds saw him take his tally for the season to 19 goals, fourĀ more than Tottenham Hotspur superkid Dane Scarlett, Manchester United's Charlie McNeill and Liverpool's Layton Stewart in the race for the top scorer accolade.
"It's going well so far but I obviously want to be top in the goalscoring chart. It's not going too bad but I want to get a few more goals," Sodje told Manchester Evening News.
I actually don't have a favourite kind of goal. I don't mind if it is a scrappy goal as long - as I'm putting it in the back of the net I don't mind.

"I think I've scored all my goals in the box this year!"
Tai, the nephew of former Nigeria international defenders Sam and Efe Sodje, joined Manchester City from Sheffield United at U12 level.
