Nigeria-eligible striker nets late equaliser as Arsenal share spoils with Everton U23
Published: March 21, 2021Folarin Balogun carved out an equaliser as Arsenal and Everton shared the spoils with a 1-1 draw in a Premier League 2 clash in Southport, Merseyside on Sunday afternoon.
The England U20 international of Nigerian descent was joined in the Gunners starting XI by Tolaji Bola, Daniel Oyegoke, Ryan Alebiosu and Tim Akinola.
The Toffees were leading 1-0 at the break courtesy of Nathan Broadhead's close-range finish, the striker put the ball in following a super cross from Matthew Mallon.
Nine minutes from time, the impressive Balogun was not closed down by the Everton defence and they were made to pay for it as he got Arsenal back in the tie, curling the ball into the far corner from just outside the box.
The American-born striker has now scored 12 goals in 24 appearances for Arsenal's teams this season.
Everton played the closing seconds with ten men following the dismissal of Tyler Onyango after he clashed with Bola.
The Gunners, who are without a win in eight matches, travel to Derby County in their first game after the international break.
