Chelsea coach Tuchel backtracks on plan to include Anjorin in squad to face Sheffield United
Published: March 21, 2021Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is set to omit Anglo-Nigerian midfielder Faustino Anjorin from his gameday squad to face Sheffield United in the quarterfinals of the Emirates FA Cup this afternoon.
The German football tactician suggested at the pre-match press conference that the England youth international was going to be involved in some capacity against the Blades but he has backtracked on what was planned.
Anjorin has been named in the starting lineup for Chelsea's ongoing Premier League 2 clash against Manchester City, effectively ruling him out of the FA Cup meeting against the Blades at Stamford Bridge.
Speaking on Friday, Tuchel said on Anjorin : "He has the physical ability to play and train with us at this level.
"He has some minutes against Barnsley in the cup game and we try to
involve him in the group against Sheffield because he trains very well."
Aged 19, Anjorin has logged only 21 minutes since the appointment of Tuchel and it came in the win against Barnsley in the fifth round of the FA Cup last month.
He was involved in the build-up to Chelsea's opening goal in the ongoing game against Manchester City U23s.
