Azeez scores stunning goal from range as Arsenal thrash Blackburn Rovers in FA Youth Cup
Published: March 20, 2021Miguel Azeez scored the pick of the goals as Arsenal thrashed Blackburn Rovers 4-1 at Ewood Park on Saturday afternoon to progress to the next round of the FA Youth Cup.
The Anglo-Spanish-Nigerian midfielder being drafted into the U18s team underlined the importance of the competition.
And he was joined in the Gunners starting lineup by two other players of Nigerian descentĀ - goalkeeper Ovie Ejeheri and defender Mazeed Ogungbo.
Arsenal established a two-goal lead by the 33rd minute after goals from Edwards and Taylor-Hart, before Azeez put the game to bed with a stunning goal.
Two minutes before halftime, Azeez picked out the top right corner from outside the box.
Gilsenan pulled one back for the hosts just after the restart and Norton-Cuffy wrapped up the scoring in added time.
Arsenal's summer signing from Ajax Amsterdam, Joel Ideho was introduced in the 80th minute, four minutes before Azeez was yellow carded forĀ a late challenge on Harlock.
