Ex-Tottenham star includes clinical Leicester City striker Iheanacho in Premier League TOTW
Published: March 17, 2021Former Tottenham Hostpur striker turned BBC pundit Garth Crooks has picked Kelechi Iheanacho in his Premier League Team of the Week following his outstanding performance in Leicester City's 5-0 rout of Sheffield United last weekend.
The Nigeria international was in his element against the Blades, netting his first career hat-trick in the Premier League.
In a 4-3-3 formation, Iheanacho occupied the left side of attack and was partnered by Manchester City's Gabriel Jesus and Liverpool's Diogo Jota.
Crooks selected Edouard Mendy (Chelsea) in goal and the four defenders are Antonio Rudiger (Chelsea), Jamaal Lascelles (Newcastle), Lewis Dunk (Brighton), John Stones (Manchester City), while he has gone for Dwight McNeil (Burnley), Luka Milivojevic (Crystal Palace), Emile Smith Rowe (Arsenal) in midfield.
Explaining the straightforward decision to pick Iheanacho in the best XI, Crooks said : "Five goals thumped past them (Sheffield United) away from home wouldn't have happened on Wilder's watch.
"The main cause of the collapse was Kelechi Iheanacho.
"The former Manchester City striker was at his most clinical. His second and third goals were magnificent strikes."
