Leicester City striker Iheanacho in the form of his life, scores first Premier League hat-trick
Published: March 14, 2021Leicester City have moved to second in the Premier League standings, even if it may be for a few hours, following their 5-0 hammering of relegation-doomed Sheffield United at the King Power Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Manager Brendan Rodgers handed Kelechi Iheanacho his fourth straight start in the top-flight and the striker was joined in the starting lineup by international teammate Wilfred Ndidi, with both going the distance.
Iheanacho's close range finish assisted by his strike partner Jamie Vardy was the difference at half-time.
The Foxes totally dominated the game in the second half and scored four more goals.
Ayoze Perez doubled the advantage at minute 64 and Iheanacho scored with a first time finish to make it 3-0 on 69 minutes, Vardy the creator again.
The Nigeria international striker scored his third and Leicester City's fourth with a brilliant effort from distance with twelve minutes left on the clock, and in doing so netted his first-ever hat-trick in the Premier League.
Leicester City wrapped up the scoring in the 80th minute as Jamie Vardy's shot from a tight angle was deflected in by Ethan Ampadu.
