Chelsea loanee Ugbo nominated for Cercle Brugge Goal of the Month award
Published: March 03, 2021Chelsea-owned striker Ike Ugbo has been nominated for Cercle Brugge's Goal of the Month award for February 2021.
The Super Eagles hopeful's strike in a 2-1 win against Royal Excel Mouscron on February 20 has been shortlisted for the monthly accolade.
Thirteen minutes into the contest at Le Canonnier, Ugbo was quick to pounce and headed home the rebound after goalkeeper Herve Koffi did not clear a corner kick properly and Bates headed the ball off the crossbar.
The former England U17 international is up against Togo international Kévin Denkey, who has been double nominated, and Leonardo Lopes for the award.
Ugbo has scored against nine different teams in the Belgian First Division A namely KV Mechelen, Sint-Truiden, KAA Gent, Zulte Waregem, Waasl.-Beveren, OH Leuven, RSC Charleroi, KV Kortrijk and Mouscron.
The 22-year-old has been selected by manager Yves Vanderhaeghe for tonight's Croky Cup clash against RSC Anderlecht at Lotto Park.
Ugbo won Cercle Brugge's Goal of the Month award for December 2020.
