Chelsea Loanee Moses Reveals His Best Position, Consulted Only One Nigerian Player Before Spartak Move
Published: February 20, 2021Former Nigeria international Victor Moses has revealed his ideal position on the pitch, saying that he prefers to be deployed as a left winger.
The 2013 Africa Cup of Nations winner has shown his tactical flexibility in recent seasons, impressing as a wing-back in Chelsea's last title winning season under manager Antonio Conte and is also comfortable playing as a winger on both flanks, center forward, support striker and attacking midfielder.
When asked to name his most convenient position on the pitch, Moses told Sport Express : "At the very beginning of my career I was a left winger.
"Now I can play both on the left and on the right flank of the attack, both left and right lateral, as the top ten and the forward.
"The priority position is left winger. But I will act where the head coach says. Football is a team game, and the needs of the team always take precedence over personal preferences."
Moses revealed that he sought advice from only one of his former teammates in the Super Eagles in the form of Peter Odemwingie, who used to play for Lokomotiv Moscow, before his loan move to Spartak Moscow last October.
Asked who helped him to make his decision to join Spartak on loan, Moses said : "Branislav Ivanović, who performed in Russia for a very long time. And Peter Odemwingie.
"He said that he had never encountered a similar problem. He said that I would really like it in Moscow and I definitely would not regret moving to Spartak.
"Well, then, when I'm on the field, I concentrate on football, and there is simply no time for everything else."
Moses went on to say that he did not consult with Ahmed Musa and Emmanuel Emenike who turned out for CSKA Moscow and Spartak Moscow respectively before joining The Red-Whites.
"Not. I know these guys, but I don't know them well enough to consult on such a matter. Communicated only with Ivanovic and Peter," he added.
Since joining Chelsea in August 2012, Moses has also enjoyed loan spells at Liverpool, Stoke City, West Ham United, Fenerbahce and Inter Milan.
