Leicester City Coach Rodgers Expects Ndidi To Be Involved In Weekend Clash Vs Liverpool
Published: February 11, 2021Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers expects Wilfred Ndidi to be involved in some capacity when his side face Liverpool in one of the standout Premier League fixtures this weekend.
The Nigeria international trained with the Foxes before their trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers but the Northern Irishman did not want to unnecessarily risk him for the matchday 22 clash.
Having missed three games in a row in the top-flight, Ndidi was welcomed back into the starting XI for Wednesday's 1-0 win vs Brighton & Hove in the fifth round of the Emirates FA Cup.
In what appears to be a premeditated substitution, the holding midfielder was hauled off just past the hour mark.
Speaking post-match, Rodgers confirmed that the Super Eagles star got through his comeback game unscathed.
BBC Leicester wrote : "He (Rodgers) also said that Ayoze Perez is "sore" after feeling pain in his shin, but that Jamie Vardy and Wilfred Ndidi came through their 60 minutes well and should be good for the weekend".
Ndidi watched the Super Eagles last four matches - against Sierra Leone home and away, Algeria and Tunisia - from afar due to fitness issues and he is in the plans of manager Gernot Rohr for next month's 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
