Chelsea Loanee Ugbo Scores A Minute After Coming Off The Bench As Cercle Brugge Beat KVO
Published: February 10, 2021Cercle Brugge have qualified for the quarterfinals of the Belgian Cup after beating K.V. Oostende 3-1 at the Jan Breydelstadion (Brugge) on Tuesday evening.
The visitors had taken the lead through Nick Bätzner on the half-hour mark but Deman netted a quick equaliser in the 33rd minute, before second half goals from Denkey and Ike Ugbo earned Cercle Brugge a win.
Manager Yves Vanderhaeghe handed minutes to players who have not played much in the Belgian First Division A this season and the decision saw Ugbo start the game on the bench.
The Super Eagles hopeful entered the game as a substitute in the 89th minute with the score at 2-1 and he made an immediate impact, making sure of the win by scoring a third goal for the home team on 90 minutes.
Fellow substitute Thibo Somers sent a long pass to find Ugbo who slotted the ball into the post.
The Chelsea loanee took his tally in all competitions to an impressive 12 goals in 25 matches, including eleven in the top-flight.
