'He Gave Us Everything' - Rodgers Defends Iheanacho After Striker's Performance Against Wolves
Published: February 07, 2021Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has defended the performance of Kelechi Iheanacho during his side's Premier League clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday.
For the third time in four top-flight games, both sides had to settle for a draw, although had chances to win the game in the last quarter of the match.
Iheanacho kept his place in the Foxes starting lineup despite Jamie Vardy seemingly returning to fitness but made way for the former England striker as the King Power Stadium outfit searched for a breakthrough against an organized Wolves defence.
Speaking post-match, Rodgers refused to criticize the Nigeria international for firing blanks, instead praising him for his worth ethic.
"He worked hard, didn’t have too many opportunities but he gave us everything. He's not used to playing games close together," Rodgers was quoted as saying by BBC Leicester Sport.
Iheanacho opened his account in this season's Premier League in a 2-0 win vs Fulham four days ago.
