Ex-Golden Eaglets Invitee Among Four Nigeria-Eligible Players In Chelsea's Premier League Squad
Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel will be able to call upon the services of four teenagers of Nigerian descent, if the need arises, for Premier League matches for the remainder of the 2020-2021 season.

The standout Nigeria-eligible player included in Chelsea's updated Premier League squad list is England youth international Faustino Anjorin who has been training with the first team since the appointment of the former Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain manager as the Blues coach.

Norwegian-Nigerian striker Bryan Fiabema has made the cut along with fullback Derrick Abu and former Golden Eaglets invitee Prince Adegoke.

Though Anjorin, Adegoke and Abu are all homegrown players, they have been registered as U21 players and scholars and the same applies to Fiabema who joined the Stamford Bridge outfit a year ago.

A homegrown player means a player who, irrespective of nationality or age, has been registered with any club affiliated to The Football Association or the Football Association of Wales for a period, continuous or not, of three entire seasons, or 36 months, before his 21st birthday.

Anjorin has been on the books of Chelsea since 2008, while Abu and goalkeeper Adegoke joined at U11 and U13 level respectively.

The 19-year-old Anjorin made his Premier League debut against Everton in March 2020, his only appearance in the top-flight to date, and also made the matchday squad when Chelsea traveled to Everton two months ago but remained rooted to the bench.
