Crystal Palace's Nigerian Striker, Who Was Involved In 64 Goals 2018-2019, Nets Winner Vs Arsenal U18
Published: January 31, 2021Crystal Palace regained top spot in the U18 Premier League table southern section after edging Arsenal in a five-goal thriller on Saturday, January 30.
Nigerian striker David Omilabu enhanced his growing reputation with another match-winning display for the young Eagles, scoring twice in a 3-2 win to take his tally for the season to ten goals in the league alone.
Only Tottenham Hotspur's Scarlett (12) and Chelsea's Soonsup-Bell (11) have scored more goals than the 18-year-old Nigerian striker this season.
Against the Gunners, Omilabu gave the home team a 2-1 lead as his shot beat goalkeeper Remy Mitchell in the 30th minute but Taylor-Hart's brilliant volley ensured the two teams were level at the break.
Thirteen minutes from time, Omilabu netted what proved to be the winning goal, finding the bottom corner with a powerful left-footed strike.
In his final season as a schoolboy, 2018-2019, he directly participated in 64 goals (41 goals, 23 assists) in 26 appearances for Crystal Palace youth teams.
Omilabu is a player of interest to the Nigeria youth teams coaches as he was on the radar of the former Golden Eaglets chief scout before the 2019 FIFA U17 World Cup in Brazil.
