Teenage Nigerian Goalkeeper Trains With Arsenal First Team Pre-Manchester United

Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Arsenal first team manager Mikel Arteta monitored teenage Anglo-Nigerian goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo at close quarters ahead of his side's meeting with Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium.

Okonkwo was conspicuously missing from the Arsenal U23 squad held to a 1-1 draw by Tottenham Hotspur on Friday as the Premier League 2 match coincided with the first team's workout held at London Colney.

The 19-year-old is arguably one of the most exciting talents at the Arsenal academy and would have made at least one matchday squad for the first team if not for an injury that kept him on the sidelines for the whole of the 2019-2020 campaign.

He has recorded an impressive nine career clean sheets in seventeen appearances combined for Arsenal's U18 and U23 teams while conceding twelve goals, which is a testament to his potential.

Okonkwo is currently behind Bernd Leno, Mathew Ryan and Rúnar Alex Rúnarsson in the Gunners pecking order of goalkeepers and it remains to seen whether he will be involved in come capacity against Manchester United

His younger brother Brian Okonkwo is a goalkeeper for Arsenal's U15 team.
