'He Insisted Playing Oscar Over Moses' - Ex-Chelsea Winger Blasts Mourinho For Snubbing Nigerian
Published: January 26, 2021Former Chelsea winger turned pundit Simon Jordan has severely criticized Jose Mourinho for his decision to snub Victor Moses in his second spell as Chelsea coach, with the manager preferring Brazilian winger Oscar to the Nigerian.
Moses was not in Mourinho's plans for the 2013-2014 season and had to be farmed out on loan to Liverpool before loan stints at Stoke City and West Ham with the Portuguese still in the Chelsea dugout.
Mourinho didn't rate Moses highly enough despite the fact he made a name for himself during his time with Crystal Palace and Wigan Athletic.
The former Super Eagles star played a key role as Chelsea won the Premier League title under Antonio Conte in the 2016-2017 season, impressing in a new role as right wing-back.
Jordan is advising incoming Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel not to disregard young players, citing Mourinho's refusal not to put his faith in Moses.
"I remember looking at Chelsea with Mourinho; I know I’ve got a bit of dog in the fight here, but he insisted upon playing Oscar over Victor Moses," Jordan said on talkSPORT.
"He didn’t give Victor Moses a look in because, as far as he was concerned, Victor Moses was somebody who wasn’t on his radar, who wasn’t an established player.
"He’d been at Palace and Wigan, wasn’t this, wasn’t that, wasn’t the other.
"Where’s Oscar now? He’s playing in China for a big bag of money and Victor Moses has gone on to win the Premier League title with Chelsea and played for Liverpool and Inter Milan.
"So I think these guys are a little bit, at times, one dimensional in their view, but they go to what is a guaranteed outcome as far as they’re concerned."

Moses, 30, has recorded 128 appearances, scoring 18 goals, since joining Chelsea in the summer of 2012.
