Liverpool Handed Boost In Pursuit Of Olise As Winger Is Fit Enough To Make Reading Bench
English Premier League champions Liverpool have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Nigeria-eligible teenager Michael Olise in the January transfer window.

It was earlier thought that a transfer was no longer in the offing this month after he suffered a shoulder injury during the Royals 3-0 win vs Coventry City last Tuesday, with manager Veljko Paunovic stating that it could be a potentially long-term injury.

However, those fears have been allayed as Olise was fit enough to be included in Reading's matchday squad in Sunday afternoon's goalless draw at Preston North End, but was a non-playing substitute.

One of the most exciting young players in the Championship, the 19-year-old's form has brought him to the attention of several Premier League clubs not limited to Liverpool, Crystal Palace and Leeds United.

A creative playmaker who can play on the wings, Olise has a goal involvement of 12 (4 goals, 8 assists) in 23 Championship matches this season.

His contract with Reading runs out at the end of the 2021-2022 season and it has been suggested that he has a release clause of 8 million pounds, though those claims have been disputed by Reading's manager.
