Exciting Southampton Winger Targeted By Rohr Unlikely To Face His Former Club Arsenal
Published: January 21, 2021The chances of Hale End Academy product Nathan Tella being named in the Southampton squad to face Arsenal in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Saturday are slim.
The Saints winger is currently sidelined by a muscle issue and manager Ralph Hasenhuttl has stated the injury will keep him out of action for the next few weeks.
Tella has not been involved in the last two matches played by Southampton due to the ailment, missing the trip to Leicester City last weekend and Tuesday's FA Cup win vs Shrewsbury Town.
This season, the 21-year-old has been included in matchday squads for the first team on twelve occasions, starting one game in the Carabao Cup while coming off the bench five times in the Premier League.
Tella watched proceedings from the bench as Southampton were beaten 2-0 by Arsenal at the St. Mary's Stadium last season.
Stevenage-born Tella was on the books of the Gunners for a decade as a trainee before switching to Southampton in the summer of 2017.
His progress with Southampton is being monitored by
manager Gernot Rohr's chief scout in England, Tunde Adelakun with a
view to a potential call-up to the Super Eagles.
