Six Players Of Nigerian Descent Train With Arsenal U23s Ahead Of League Resumption
Published: January 06, 2021Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that six players of Nigerian descent trained with Arsenal U23s at London Colney on Wednesday ahead of the resumption of the Premier League 2.
Manager Steve Bould monitored at close quarters Folarin Balogun, Miguel Azeez, Tim Akinola, Mazeed Ogungbo, Ryan Alebiosu and Joseph Olowu.
Balogun, Azeez and Alebiosu have been spotted training with the Gunners first team in recent days with a view to playing their first game in the Emirates FA Cup.
Olowu is back in north London having spent the first half of the season on loan at demoted League of Ireland Premier Division club Cork City, and has played just once for the U23s this term.
Arsenal are mulling over loaning him out before the close of the January transfer window and his representatives are in talks with some Football League clubs.
The Gunners U23s won't be in action until January 17 when they travel to Southampton B.
Goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo, defenders Daniel Oyegoke and Zach Awe, and winger Joel Ideho are the other players of Nigerian descent who have featured for Arsenal U23s in the Premier League 2 this season.
