Pictured : Teenage Nigeria-Eligible Midfielder Trains With Chelsea First Team Pre-Morecambe
Published: January 06, 2021Chelsea boss Frank Lampard continues to run the rule over teenage Nigeria-eligible attacking midfielder Faustino Anjorin ahead of his side's third round Emirates FA cup clash with League Two opponents Morecambe.
Training images published by the Blues on their official website confirm that the England youth international participated in Wednesday's workout held at Cobham Training Center.
The Chelsea first team stars were given two days off, Monday and Tuesday, to recharge their batteries following their 3-1 defeat suffered at the hands of Manchester City in a Premier League fixture on January 3.
Lampard's decision to call up some exciting academy players is not a surprising one given the first team's hectic schedule and strength of their next opponents, a fourth-tier team.
Anjorin has faced Football League teams seven times in his Chelsea career, scoring five goals and providing four assists.
The 19-year-old was in action against Plymouth (2), AFC Wimbledon, Peterborough, Swindon Town, Walsall and Bristol Rovers in the Papa John's Trophy.
He was an unused substitute in Chelsea's 2-0 win vs Liverpool in the fifth round of the FA Cup in March 2020.
