Ex-Tottenham Hotspur Winger Bennetts Faces Uncertain Future At Borussia Monchengladbach
Published: September 10, 2020Keanan Bennetts' future at Borussia Monchengladbach has been cast in doubt by the club's sporting director Max Eberl ahead of the start of the 2020-2021 season.
Eberl has refused to rule out the departure of the Nigerian Federation target before the close of the transfer window as the versatile winger has found playing opportunities difficult to come by since his arrival at Borussia-Park from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2018.
A nominee for the 2019 Golden Boy, Bennetts has made only one appearance for Borussia Monchengladbach's first team to date, coming on as an 89th substitute in a 3-0 win vs Wolfsburg three months ago.
Injuries have hampered the growth of the exciting youngster in recent seasons and it was a factor in his decision to turn down the chance to represent the Flying Eagles at the 2019 FIFA U20 World Cup.
"It will be tough to find minutes for Michael Lang, Keanan Bennetts and Julio Villalba this season, but there has been no interest as of yet," Eberl said at Thursday's press conference.
"Should they remain with us, then they will be valuable members of the squad."
The 21-year-old Keanan Bennetts has a contract with Borussia Monchengladbach until the summer of 2022.
