Confirmed : Arsenal's Nigerian-Born Center Back Extends Loan Deal With Cork City
Published: July 09, 2020Arsenal have announced through their official website that Ibadan-born center back Joseph Olowu has extended his loan contract with League of Ireland Premier Division side Cork City.
The Nigeria Football Federation target will now remain at the Rebel Army until the end of the 2020 season.
Olowu's original contract expired on June 30 but it has been extended because of the protracted campaign.
On extending his stay, Olowu told Cork City's official website : "I was enjoying my time at the club when the season was suspended. Everyone made me feel very welcome at the club, and I felt I was settling in well.
"It has been a frustrating few months, but I am very pleased that this is all sorted and I can focus on getting back on the pitch with the club for the rest of the season."
Olowu has endeared himself to the Cork City supporters, winning the Player of the Month for February, an award decided by fans.
The 20-year-old made five appearances for Cork City before the league was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.
