'I'm Happy With The Goal' - Chievo's Super Eagles Dazzler Obi Reacts After First Goal Of Season
Published: June 30, 2020
Skillful Super Eagles midfielder Joel Obi was delighted to open his account for the 2019-2020 season in Chievo Verona's 2-0 win against Frosinone on Monday.
Prior to his opener against the Canaries, the former Inter Milan wonderkid was in action for 1,557 minutes spread across 22 matches in the Italian Serie B without finding the net.
In quotes carried by Tuttomercatoweb citing Chievo's official website, Joel Obi said : "I'm happy with the goal, but even more for the team's performance that came from an undeserved defeat.
"We had to react, we did it in the best way and I'm happy with this."
Following yesterday's win, Chievo Verona are three points behind sixth-placed Frosinone in the race for a playoff spot with seven matches left in the regular season.
"Yes, the result was important because it came against an excellent team that is ahead of us.
"A victory that gives morale and that is important in terms of ranking, because we are approaching Frosinone and the others that are at the top.
"We must always look at the teams that are ahead of us, but also those behind us. So we grow: we know what our goals are and we have to think game after game".
Obi's last game in a Super Eagles jersey was against England in a pre-World Cup friendly staged at Wembley on June 2, 2018.
