Arsenal Offer New Three-Year Deal To Talented Nigerian Youngster
Published: June 16, 2020Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report that English Premier League side Arsenal are keen to tie down promising Nigerian goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo to a new deal.
The Hale End Academy product will soon enter the final twelve months of his contract with the Gunners, having inked his first professional contract with the North London club in September 2018 along with Bukayo Saka.
It is understood the Gunners have opened a line of communication with Okonkwo and his camp over a new three-year deal.
If the 2001-born player accepts the offer, he would be contracted to Arsenal until the end of the 2023-2024 season.
Arsenal offering Okonkwo a new contract is a testament to how highly he is rated by the Gunners chiefs as he has not played at all this season due to a long-term injury.
The young shot-stopper was excellent for the U23 squad towards the end of the 2018-2019 campaign, posting three shut-outs in four appearances in the Premier League 2 and was expected to cement his spot in the side this season if not for injury.
Okonkwo has trained with Arsenal's first team several times and was named in the provisional squad for their Europa League quarterfinal second leg clash against Napoli in April 2019.
