Charlton Athletic Star Aneke On His Best Position, Facing Arsenal At The Emirates
Published: June 12, 2020Chuks Aneke has returned to fitness ahead of the restart of the Championship, having missed the last 23 games played by Charlton Athletic in all competitions, including 22 in the league, due to injury.
The former England youth international was handed a valuable run-out as Arsenal thrashed the Addicks 6-0 in a friendly last Saturday.
Capable of playing as an attacking midfielder in the number ten role and as a second striker, Aneke has stressed that he's ready to play wherever he's deployed by manager Lee Bowyer.
Speaking to the official website of Charlton, Aneke stated : "I’ve always played in both positions, so I have no preference. Wherever I play I try and do my best for the team to score goals and make assists.
"The clear aim is to stay in the league for everybody. We’re pushing hard to stay up so that’s what we’re all focused on."

Aneke, who departed the Gunners in 2014, also spoke about his return to the Emirates, saying he was glad to see some of his former teammates.
"I really enjoyed it. I’ve played at The Emirates a few times with the youth academy. I got to see my old U18s manager Steve Bould and a few other that I was there with. It was great.
"I played with Hector Bellerin, Emiliano Martinez when I was there. It was good to catch up with them."
