Published: June 11, 2020English Premier League giants Manchester United were among the European clubs that posted scouts to check on the progress of Partizan Belgrade frontman Umar Sadiq during Wednesday's Eternal derby between Partizan and Red Star Belgrade.
According to Serbian media outlet Telegraf, Budimir Vujacic, who is a Manchester United scout forĀ Central and Southeast Europe, was at the derby to run the rule over the players on both teams.
Sadiq has faced Manchester United twice this season, starting the two Europa League matches in October and November 2019.
Ahead of the return leg at Old Trafford, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer acknowledged that the former Nigeria U23 international could cause his side problems and labelled him a big and strong striker.
The former Roma starlet is statistically the best Nigerian player in the whole of Europe when it comes to goals and assists combined, having been involved in an astonishing 33 goals (17 goals, 16 assists) in 38 matches across all competitions.
Scouts representing Moscow-based Spartak, CSKA, Lokomotiv were also at the derby and two of the aforementioned Russian Premier League clubs specially came to observe the Nigerian.
Anderlecht, AC Milan, Valencia and Fenerbahce talents spotters also watched Sadiq in action against Red Star.
The 23-year-old went the distance and provided the assist for the only goal of the game scored by Bibras Natcho in the 58th minute.
